GRANDDAUGHTER OF IONIE
Ionie Peters was born in Antigua in 1929
Arrived in the UK in 1961
She was an assiduous worker
For 40 years
She worked at the factory
And as a hospital cleaner
And you could count the sick days she had
On one hand
She had little education
Couldn’t read or write well
But learnt over the years
And raised four children
She loved to be crafty
And made patchwork quilts
For all her grandchildren
One of whom is called Emma
She carries on the family culture
Sowed in creativity
And works as a freelance producer
As well as collecting mag covers
With POC cover stars
