The World Is (Y)Ours
Silver winner of the 2020 Best Documentary Short at the Independent Shorts Awards, The World is (Y)Ours is a film examining climate change from the perspectives of Black and Brown people in Britain.
Produced by Pocc Productions, the film directed by Tanya Noushka and written and narrated by musician Louis VI aims to spotlight the ways in which actions in Western countries can negatively affect the ancestral homes of Black and ethnically diverse communities.
“As British kids we are negatively affecting where we’re from. How we live, how we conduct ourselves, whether we vote, will and does affect the world. Because these places that are burning, these places that are flooding, these places that haven’t had a drop of rain to grow crops, these places are where we are from.” – Louis VI.
The World is (Y)Ours was part of the “It’s Our Time” campaign, a politically neutral campaign to engage under 30’s who care about climate change to register to vote in the 2019 snap UK General Election.
