£31,740 per annum inclusive of London Weighting

We have a new CEO, Claire Spencer, an ambitious creative vision led by Artistic Director, Will Gompertz and a major new renewal plan for the Centre, with a design team led by Allies and Morrison and Asif Khan Studio.
The Development department is responsible for securing income for the Barbican from a variety of sources including donations, grants, patronage, sponsorship and corporate memberships.
We are seeking a Writer & Research Officer to play a key role in Development Operations team. The successful candidate will support the Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships teams with prospect research, tools and advice to enable the advancement of potential supporters. They will develop a comprehensive knowledge of the Barbican’s aims and objectives and build relationships with colleagues across the institution to maximise opportunities. They will also assist the Philanthropy team in developing strategies to prioritise asks and leverage opportunities in line with the Barbican’s fundraising and business objectives. They will manage and maintain written information about the organisation and assimilate this information for use in developing proposals and asks.
Strong candidates for this role will have a flair for writing and be able to create clear and accurate copy. They will be able to demonstrate good working knowledge or successful previous experience in prospect/client research or a research-related role, alongside a broad understanding of fundraising in the UK.
