Account Directors (AD) create a shared agenda between the client and the agency. Acting as a highly-skilled translator between business problems and the creative solution.

They are entrepreneurs; proactive, energetic, passionate and they get out of bed every day to make the best work possible for their client and the agency. A BBH AD is ultimately responsible for championing and delivering fame driving work.

ADs lead by example. They have mastered the AE and AM role and now they are bringing all together. They are centres of excellence. Nurturing talent to develop high functioning teams and creating the next generation of future leaders.

Above and beyond their team, ADs are cultural advocates throughout the department, embodying all the black sheep attributes. ADs set the pace and the standard.

The Role – Responsibilities and Capabilities


● Have an in-depth understanding and knowledge of your client’s business, strategic
imperatives, competitor set and how they make money
● Advise your clients on their brand and communications planning, and identify areas in their business that can be converted into commercial and creative opportunities for the agency
● Actively develop growth plans for your account, working into your Business Lead
● Manage fee and production within budget for your areas. Develop out of scope fees and understand how to construct fee proposals. Reconcile budgets and re-deploy fee in order to maximise agency retainers and/or production budgets. Evaluate all estimates for clients, ensuring consistency
● Always be aware of the total client agency roster and their remits, understanding how to safeguard and grow BBH revenue, while working as a collaborative partner with these agencies for the clients benefit. Train your team in this area
● Negotiate and manage any conflict where necessary
● Contribute to developing commercial proposals for winning new business


● You are business critical and are a ‘go-to’ person on the account
● Represent the Agency in a professional manner at all times, understanding and promoting what it means to be a BBHer and our values
● Have strong client relationships that extend deep into the client’s business beyond day to day marketing clients
● Apply insight and understanding of the client’s business to make a positive impact on their communications at a strategic level. Informing their customer plan and communication strategies
● Master “front foot” account management, always operating multiple steps ahead of your clients and partners internally. Anticipate possible future hurdles within the project and have contingency plans at the ready
● Have an excellent understanding of production processes and media, with skills to create dynamic ways of working and innovative solutions
● Inspire your clients and partners around the value of creative ideas and executions.
● Build creative, compelling and engaging presentations
● Understand all the fundamentals of delivering a winning new business pitch, and confidently take responsibility for all the operational aspects of a pitch


● Actively drive the creative output for your part of the account or projects to deliver on the overall account plan
● Weave research, cultural insight and business requirements together to find the ZAG
● Create an environment where great ideas can thrive and grow beyond what the client asked for
● Interrogate and challenge the client feedback when necessary to protect the work
● Partner with media and other agencies to realise the possibilities of our creative thinking and create a communications plan for the client that becomes irresistible
● Actively drive the agency’s creative agenda, helping to create work that the agency and client team are proud of
● Take barriers and restrictions and use them to your benefit to create tight briefs for teams, giving them creative freedom
● Use your awareness of industry trends and broader cultural perspectives to make the work better

● Adopt a consultative and collaborative approach with your team and clients to get to the best decisions
● Empower your team and give them room to grow. Nurture the development of your team members, setting them clear objectives

● Support your Leadership teams in handling conversations in relation to D&I
