Derrick Kakembo

Derrick is devoted to exploring the complexity and beauty of Blackness as a subject matter.

His filmmaking practice is often an extension of this exploration into the unique experiences of Blackness. Working across Fashion, Editorial, Music, and Art Films, he has have been commissioned by many brands and clients such as Ogilvy, V&A and Island Records.

His work has been published by fashion magazines and publications as such as Nowness, Hunger Magazine, King Kong and more.

His photographic portraiture work has seen him study and photograph musicians like Stefflon Don, Giggs, Post Malone, Masego and Davido. Derrick is also the founder and Head of Content of the cultural platform and content brand Reform The Funk.
