Job Description

The Independent is excited to announce an opening for a Head of Audience Strategy based in London. This pivotal role is ideal for an experienced editorial audience strategist who is ready to drive growth across a diverse portfolio of brands.

In this position, you will be at the forefront of developing and implementing audience strategies for prominent news brands such as independent.co.uk and indy100.com. You will leverage your expertise in SEO, social media, and data analysis to create effective strategies that meet and exceed audience targets. Staying ahead of industry trends and adapting to changes in SEO and social media algorithms will be essential to ensuring continuous traffic growth and maintaining high engagement levels.

As an integral part of The Independent’s team, you will lead efforts to enhance the visibility and reach of the company’s digital properties. Your role will involve working closely with various departments to align audience strategies with overall business objectives, driving innovation and growth across all platforms.

In this role, you will lead and shape the audience strategy for key brands including independent.co.uk and indy100.com. You will develop and implement comprehensive growth strategies based on platform insights and audience data. Collaboration with teams to ensure audience targets are met and exceeded across all brands will be key. Staying informed about industry trends and making proactive adjustments to strategies to optimize performance will also be essential.

Essential skills and experience

  • Deep expertise in SEO specifically tailored for news publishers
  • A strong understanding of social media platforms
  • Proficiency in data analysis
  • Solid understanding of on-platform and off-platform distribution models, including eCommerce SEO
