To assist us in driving our creative vision, the University is now seeking to appoint an experienced academic Course Leader to lead our two undergraduate awards in Animation and Animation and Visual Effects. We are seeking an experienced academic with the vision, insight, commitment and skills to develop, promote and deliver these two named awards, which share a common first year curriculum.
Candidates will be able to deliver and develop innovative learning and teaching strategies including online materials and blended learning, combined with an ability to work closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Our Course Leader in Animation and Animation and Visual Effects will be student-focussed and committed to delivering a high-quality student experience.
As Course Leader you will possess a comprehensive knowledge of contemporary animation and visual effects and an understanding of the future needs of employers. You will bring strong professional relationships and be able to apply your knowledge and experience of professional
requirements for undergraduate study that are clearly focused on preparing students for graduate
The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent skills in organisation, management, timetabling and team building. Ideally you will be experienced in one or more of the following: 2D, 3D/CG and Stop Motion animation, Nuke compositing, Maya or Houdini, for visual
Experience of working in 360 filming or XR applications would be additionally valuable.
BA (Hons) Animation has a long-established history at NUA and covers the broad range of current animation practice.
The BA (Hons) Animation and Visual Effects course was successfully
established with the support of key industry partners and advisors including the UK Screen Alliance and ScreenSkills, as well as major UK visual effects companies. Some of the best visual effects companies in the world, from ILM to DNEG, have provided masterclasses, delivering specialist workshops to our students, who share a common first year before specialising in years two and three.
